Water Is Life - Water Class with Jen Isabel Friend

This 10-part Water Series was created by Jen Isabel Friend for Natural Action. Throughout the series, you’ll explore how water influences hydration, energy, and the natural intelligence of the body — and how improving your relationship with water can support greater vitality.

Welcome to Water Class 101.
We’re excited to have you here.

Before we get into filters, sources, and techniques, let’s start with a simple question:

Why does water even matter?

Most people think of water as something you drink when you’re thirsty. But water is far more than that. It’s the foundation of energy in the human body.

Your body doesn’t just run on calories. It runs on electricity.

When water moves through the membranes of your cells, it generates voltage — a kind of hydroelectric energy that your body stores in the mitochondria as ATP and GTP. These are the batteries that power every biological process in your body.

To give you perspective:
the osmotic flow of water through a single epithelial cell can generate over 10,000 volts of potential energy.

That’s the scale of energy we’re working with.

If you want more vitality, clarity, and resilience, one of the most powerful places to start is hydration.

By volume, your body is roughly 70% water.
By molecular count, you’re about 99.92% water molecules.

And yet, most people today live in a state of chronic dehydration.

But the solution isn’t just drinking more water. Many people already drink plenty — yet their bodies aren’t truly absorbing it. Often that water simply passes through.

Real hydration depends on two things:

  1. The quality of the water

  2. The body’s ability to absorb and structure it

Not all water is the same.

In this course we’ll explore the major types of water people commonly drink — tap water, bottled water, reverse osmosis, distilled water, spring water, and well water. While they may all look like clear liquid, their chemistry, mineral composition, and structure can be completely different.

And those differences matter.

They affect how water interacts with your cells, your nervous system, and even your mental clarity.

In recent years, researchers have also identified something remarkable: a fourth phase of water or EZ water.

Beyond solid, liquid, and vapor, this phase behaves more like a structured gel — a crystalline form of water that can hold charge and organize information. It appears widely in nature and exists throughout the human body.

When your body is rich in this kind of structured water, hydration becomes far more efficient. It supports collagen, nourishes cerebrospinal fluid, strengthens cell membranes, and helps your cells maintain their vitality over time.

Later in this course, we’ll explore where this kind of water exists in nature and how you can begin creating it in your own life.

Before we begin, a quick note.

This course is for education and exploration. I’m not a doctor, and nothing here should be considered medical advice. The ideas we’ll discuss come from researchers, scientists, and physicians, but you should always consult your healthcare provider for personal medical decisions.

With that said…

Let’s begin.
